Isle of Mull Annual Teachers Retreat Jan ‘26

Striking a pose on Knockvolagan Beach

I am incredibly fortunate to know so many wonderful people on the Isle of Mull, including one of my closest friends, Zoe Heald, who lives there and has been running retreats for over a decade. I have been honoured and privileged to assist her year after year. (You can find details of her retreats by clicking on the Yoga tab above.)

I am also grateful to know Emma Burges of Wild Rock Yoga. A few years ago, Emma had the inspired idea of hosting a teachers’ retreat each January for yoga teachers and wellbeing professionals. It offers the perfect start to the year: a diverse group of women gathering for three nourishing days to both offer and receive whatever it is they bring to the mat.

During the retreat, I had the joy of learning a few new yoga flows and developing the skills to confidently deliver a massage. I also delivered an SFH group session, which was warmly received and from which participants gained real benefit. We were deeply nourished by Emma’s wonderful culinary skills, enjoying fresh, delicious vegetarian food throughout our time together.

We were also blessed with a rare sunny January day, which invited us into the sea for a swim. This photo was taken on that day (that’s me in the cream woolly hat), and I was delighted to have braved the water wearing a short wetsuit. Through shared experiences, loving action, and time immersed in nature, we supported one another’s growth and began the year feeling connected, inspired, and renewed.
